Dr. Eran Schenker

Dr. Eran Schenker has served as the Medical Director and Chief Air Surgeon of the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAAI) since 2022, where he chairs the CAAI Medical Committee and acts as a senior aviation medical examiner.

A multi-engine IFR pilot who began flying at age 16, Dr. Schenker combines deep aviation experience with extensive medical leadership. He is Head of the Fisher Institute Aerospace Medicine Research Center and pioneered the concept of unmanned eVTOL air ambulances over 15 years ago, developing the MedUAV — a vertical takeoff and landing AirMed drone designed to deliver critical care within the “golden hour.”

As an aerospace medicine physician and space research specialist, Dr. Schenker has served as principal investigator for six international medical space projects flown on five NASA Space Shuttle missions and aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft as part of the Ramon Biomedical Study on the International Space Station.

Dr. Schenker’s work has been supported by the Israeli Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science, and the Israel Space Agency. He also mentors innovators, from students to CEOs, through organizations including 8400 – The Health Network, the Ramon Foundation, ISA, D-MARS, and BizLabs MedTech.
Dr. Schenker’s clinical expertise includes delivering emergency care at the world’s largest emergency department – the Sylvan Adams Emergency Hospital at Sourasky Medical Center. He has also held senior leadership roles in the medical and biotech industries, including Medical Director of Merchavia Holdings & Investments Ltd.; CEO & Medical Director at CollPlant Ltd. and MedicTouch Ltd.; VP & Medical Director at Kamada Ltd.; and VP at Neurim Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Dr. Schenker holds an MD from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, an MBA in Management and Business Strategy from Northwestern University, a Master in Health Informatics and Analytics from George Washington University, and is a Life Sciences graduate of the International Space University.
